Richard Nunns (taonga puoro) and Natalia Mann (harp)
Richard Nunns is a living authority on taonga puoro (maori traditional musical instruments). He has been described as one of New Zealand's most remarkable musicians. His thorough and sensitive research has provided a wealth of information around the sounds, history and stories of these taonga, ensuring their preservation for future generations. He's also an improvisor and explorer of sounds, and takes the soundworld of taonga puoro to new places. Tonight he'll be joined by Natalia Mann, a harpist and improvising musician who has recently returned to NZ from Istanbul.
Jim Currin (Dunedin) with The Wellington Most Famous Orchestra! featuring Hannah Cherry
Jim's a stalwart of Dunedin music with bands like Ray Off and the United Fairy Moons label. Tonight he's directing Wellington's newest all-star celebrity orchestra.
